Taenia saginata (Tapeworm)Tapeworms are categorized in the phylum of Platyhelminthes. They are a parasitic animal that feed off another organism, usually in the animals digestive tract. The longest tapeworms can be as long as 75 ft (Whale tapeworm), while the shorter tapeworms are usually only 0.51–9.45 in (vole and lemming tapeworms).
The tapeworm has not circulatory and it has no gut/organs. It absorbs its needed nutrients directly from the digestive tract of the host where the tapeworm lives. One of the symptoms of a tapeworm is segments of the worm in the bowel tract. |
